The Rising Popularity of Regenerative Medicine

In the past decade, Regenerative Medicine has begun to provide breakthroughs in treatments and technologies for the medical industry and the patients who experience it first hand. It’s only in the last few years that the notion of natural non-invasive treatments and regenerative healing substances have become more recognized by physicians and patients seeking non-surgical and non-pharmaceutical approaches to chronic pain, musculoskeletal pain, autoimmune disease, Lyme disease and many other conditions.

The growing popularity in this field can be attributed to a combination of a few things:

1. On the one hand the change in administration and policy around medical innovations and more acceptance for mainstream stem cells use has created more discourse around the subject as a whole.

2. But, in truth, the real popularity has come from celebrities and sportsmen/women endorsements of regenerative medical treatments.

Mention Kim Kardashian, Simon Cowell or Harry Styles and you may note that they partake in aesthetic rejuvenation with treatments like natural stem cell facials.

On a more serious note, the use of regenerative medicine to heal sports related injuries has long been the best kept secret in the business. As early as 2008, it was reported that Tiger Woods suffered a serious injury to his ACL. To supplement his surgery, Woods received regular PRP (platelet rich plasma) injections. Within one year, Woods was back at the top of his game and earned numerous awards including Player of the Year, PGA Player of the Year, and the FedEx Cup Champion.

Kobe Bryant has also been transparent about his use of PRP to heal his overused knees and sustain his health to avoid being forced into early retirement. The same goes for Yankees player Alex Rodriguez who utilized PRP to recover quickly from his hip surgery in 2009.

More recently Chris Johnson from the Jets had stem cells from his bone marrow re-injected into his knee to augment January surgery for a torn meniscus, boost healing and rebuild cartilage.

3. Last but not least,  the advent of innovative sexual optimization treatments that are increasingly newsworthy by virtue of the subject themselves.  News media like Bustle, R29 and The Daily Mail have picked up on the interesting area of sexual optimization! These therapies include shockwave treatments, supplements, and injections with PRP and other advanced regenerative substances such as exosomes.
